My Photo Album-198: Hardwar Chandru

We were working together at Karaikudi in the same cadre for several years and became great friends.  Then he went to BHEL, Hardwar.  After several years there, came back to Ranipet, Tamil Nadu.  Unfortunately, over the years our contacts diminished and we rarely meet or talk to each other.  Last year or so, suddenly one day he telephoned me and found that I had come to Chennai to visit my daughter and he was also in Chennai to visit his own daughter.  So we met and had breakfast together and spent some happy hours.  I thought this meeting in person would revive our friendship and we would be close again like the good old days.  But that did not happen.  However, I still cherish the memory of our days together on many a happy occasion and his help to me on various occasions.

He has two daughters, one is in Germany after graduation from IIT-Madras and the other is pursuing higher studies in Chennai (I have forgotten the institution and the course).

Chandru! I shall always love you. May God bless you and your family!

(This is the only photograph of Chandru I have now; all the others have disappeared.  Unfortunately, the photo is not good.  However, I have to manage with it).

Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself  - William Faulkner, a great American writer and Nobel Laureate

Picture of the day-431: Manamadurai

Mud Road linking the East Bank of River Vaigai with the West Bank.  It is just opposite Sri Parvathavarthini-Somanathar Temple. I had walked this several times during our stay at Manamadurai.  Especially, for going to the weekly vegetable market. The road used to be good and has since deteriorated for want of maintenance. They put stones across to prevent vehicle from using this road.  Now vehicles have to go by the overbridge only

My Photo Album-196: Balu

Balu. Our Director's driver. An excellent driver and a friend.  He has a helping nature.  I shall always cherish his help at the time of my father's death.

May God bless him!

A Thought for Today-621: Grandma Moses

And life is what we make it. Always has been, always will be – Grandma Moses, American Artist

My Photo Album-195: Alex Jr

John Alex. Everybody calls him Alex.  I call him Jr Alex, because I have another friend with the same name.  Towards the end of my career, he joined our section as a contract worker.  He became very much attached to me.  At this young age, his father, who was working as a driver, suddenly passed away.  As the first son of the family he had to bear the family burden.  I always have a soft corner for him. Even after my leaving our office, he used to send me SMS regularly.

This photo I took after my retirement, when I was also working on contract.

May God bless him!

A Thought for Today-619:

Seek out that particular mental attribute which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive, along with which comes the inner voice which says, "This is the real me," and when you have found that attitude, follow it -

A Thought for Today-618: The Power Of One - Author Unknown

One SONG can spark a moment
One FLOWER can wake the dream
One TREE can start a forest
One BIRD can herald spring
One SMILE begins a friendship
One HANDCLASP lifts a soul
One STAR can guide a ship at sea
One WORD can frame the goal
One VOTE can change a nation
One SUNBEAM lights a room
One CANDLE wipes out darkness
One LAUGH will conquer gloom
One STEP must start each journey
One WORD must start a prayer
One HOPE will raise our spirits
One TOUCH can show you care
One VOICE can speak with wisdom
One HEART can know what is true
One LIFE can make a difference
