This blog has become a sort of personal-cum-public diary. As for its contents, some are meant for me and my friends and relatives; others are for the public. This blog will have only positive, ennobling, elevating, encouraging and uplifting thoughts/ideas/materials. Whoever visits should feel happy and should be able to pick up some good ideas/thoughts/links. In short, "NOTHING NEGATIVE" is my motto.(Grateful thanks to Jon Sullivan and Public-Domain-Photos.com for the background photo)

PROSPEROUS AND PURPOSEFUL
NEW YEAR 2020
Today morning only I watched this wonderful video presentation from TED Talks. It was fascinating and I thought I should share with everybody. I do not want to say anything about it and prefer to let you watch for yourself and come to a conclusion. Please don't miss it.
After watching the video, you may want to visit his portal. For your convenience, I am providing the link:

My darling grand daughter, Mahakutty. From her lips, you can see that she was trying to communicate something to me, her grandpa. This is another favourite photo of her.
Pillayarpatti Tank with the Temple Towers in the Background.
The first time I visited the temple was in 1970 with my dear friend, Dr Janakiraman. We left the Hostel around 6.30 am and when we reached Pillayarpatti, there was almost nobody except ourselves. In those days, it was not so well known and there were not many shops and the place was very charming and serene. We immediately liked the place and decided to visit the temple as often as possible.
Since then, I have visited the temple many times. But nowadays a lot of shops have sprung up and visitors throng the place from all over Tamil Nadu. On 'Vinayakar Chathurthi', there will be a mile-long queue and you will have patiently wait for hours for your turn.In spite of all this, the place has not lost its charm. I still love visiting the temple and offering my prayers there.
As for my wife, whenever there is some function or journey or some worry, she prays to Lord Karpagavinayaga and invariably things move smoothly and everything becomes all right.
This sweet smiling angel is my dear grand daughter, yet to be named. We call her Mahakutty. The minute she sees me, her face blossoms into a beautiful, charming smile.
Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy – Dr Norman Vincent Peale
Suri sitting on the steps of Lord Shiva Temple, Kottaiyur. Photo by Aravind using my Canon A590 Powershot camera.
Though this is the main entrance to the temple, it is opened only on special occasions and on normal days, the entry is through the side entrance only. As such, this is a lonely, peaceful spot, with lot of empty space followed by a lake. On my far left is the road leading to Alagapuri, Kandanur and Puduvayal. It is an ideal place, to spend the evenings. The wind blowing from the lake is comforting and enjoyable. My dad used spend some time in the evening almost daily, when he was in Kottaiyur, after his retirement.
Sometimes I go there with a book or a magazine and find myself engrossed in reading.

This is what people close say about me: “Misfit, Dreamer, Impractical, Champion of lost causes, Always Wrong” etc. etc. Maybe they are right, maybe not. What do I think of myself? I am trying to find out.
