Good morning! It is a pleasure to dive back into this.
Connecting the "planetary pump" to our own biology is a powerful way to bridge the gap between global mechanics and personal experience. Since we previously discussed "tuning" these senses through meditation, this installment can focus on the fluidity of the self—shifting from seeing ourselves as static objects to seeing ourselves as temporary vessels for a much larger, ancient flow.
Here is a post for our Science and Spirituality column:
THE OCEAN IN THE SKY AND YOUR VEINS ARE THE RIVERS
The same water that carved the Grand Canyon and cooled the primitive crust of the Earth is, at this very moment, pulsing through your left ventricle. We often think of the water cycle as something "out there"—a meteorological map of evaporation and precipitation—but the "Machine" doesn't stop at your skin. You are a localized eddy in a global current.
The Planetary Pump
The Earth functions as a massive, solar-powered transport system. The sun lifts billions of tons of water into the atmosphere, creating "flying rivers" that move more water than the Amazon. This is the Ocean in the Sky. When we breathe in humid air or drink from a spring, we are literally plugging into a planetary circuit that has been running for billions of years.
The Biological Mirror
Our bodies are roughly 60% water. This isn't just a static percentage; it is a constant exchange.
The Flow:
Your blood plasma is remarkably similar in ionic composition to seawater.
The Rhythm:
Just as the moon pulls the tides, the fluids in our bodies respond to the pressures and rhythms of the environment.
The Connection:
Every molecule of water you consume was once a cloud, a glacier, or perhaps even part of another living being centuries ago.
Spirituality says: "I am one with the universe."
Science says: "The universe is currently flowing through you."
Tuning the Internal Flow
In our previous discussions, we looked at how to "tune" our senses. To experience this "Ocean in the Sky" spiritually, we can practice Fluidity Meditation.
Instead of focusing on the solidness of your bones, focus on the movement of your breath and the pulse in your wrists. Recognize that you are not a "thing" that contains water, but a process of water moving through time. When you realize the "planetary pump" is the same force keeping your heart beating, the boundary between "me" and "the world" begins to dissolve.
Grateful thanks to Google Gemini for its great help and support in creating this blogpost!🙏
