BBC GREAT INDIAN RAILWAY JOURNEYS

Part 1 of Part 4

1) Amritsar to Shimla

Beginning in the Sikh holy city, MICHAEL is dazzled by the beauty of the Golden Temple and awed by the scale of its langar - the world's largest free kitchen. His route then takes him through the Punjab, India's breadbasket. Michael samples traditional chapattis, has a colourful kurta made up in one of the Punjab's biggest cloth markets, and can't resist the foot-tapping rhythms of Punjabi bhangra dancing, made famous by Bollywood. At Kalka, Michael glimpses the Himalayas for the first time and joins the 1906-built mountain railway for a stunning climb to Shimla.

In this video we will be talking about 10 important insights for building your Self Discipline from the writings of Marcus Aurelius. He was also a devout student of the philosophy of Stoicism. During his rule, Aurelius found the time to construct a series of autobiographical writings, now known as the Meditations. In these writings, the Marcus Aurelius offered a number of key insights on how to build self discipline.

So here are 10 important insights for self discipline from Marcus Aurelius.

1. Self Discipline starts with finding your purpose

2. Count on yourself

3. Show up every day

4. Practice voluntary hardship

5. Practice dichotomy of control

6. Never play the victim

7. Practice delayed gratification

8. Ignore naysayers

9. Find wise people to emulate

10. Honestly review your day

I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope you find these insights very insights very helpful to for your self discipline.

Even though Marcus Aurelius wrote it 2,000 years ago — his insights on Stoicism still carry strong weight today. Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. Even though it is over 2000 years old, more and more people are discovering how Stoicism is not only relevant to modern times, but can be applied in very simple, yet strong ways.

Plankton are basically responsible for all life on earth, and they’re in decline. IBM researchers are building small autonomous AI microscopes that can be placed in bodies of water to use plankton as an environmental sensor network. In 5 years these microscopes, networked in the cloud and deployed around the world, will continually monitor the condition of the natural resource most critical to our survival: water. Immerse yourself in this 360 experience to see under the microscope of IBM researchers who are working to tackle this problem. Because what's good for plankton is good for all of us.

Bhutan Food and Travel Guide - Day 1: My wife and I flew from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan on Druk Air. We landed in Paro, and it was about an hour taxi ride to get to Thimphu, which is the largest city in Bhutan, and where we were going to base ourselves.

After getting settled into the My Bhutan house, we headed out to the Thimphu Farmers Market, a local produce market.

Bhutanese food lunch at Kalden Restaurant - For my first ever Bhutanese food meal, we headed over to Kalden Restaurant, a local restaurant in Thimphu. We ordered ema-datse, which is the Bhutanese food national dish of chilies and cheese, plus a number of other cheese dishes, which we ate over rice. It was an amazing first Bhutanese meal.

Indian vegetarian food dinner at New Grand Restaurant - We ordered a spread of dishes including aloo ghobi, and one of my personal favorite, chili paneer.

It was an amazing first day, flying from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan, and then on to Thimphu. I was blown away by my first Bhutanese food meal!

I really hope you enjoy this trip of over 1,600 km from Stockholm in Sweden up to Narvik in Norway. A true bucket-list journey, this is nowhere near as expensive as you'd think, and the only barriers you have in taking this trip are managing to brave the cold.

My tip: for snow, head there in April like I did. It's a little above freezing and the thaw is beginning, but it's still truly Arctic - watch the people on quad bikes and snowmobiles in my video! In summer, the snow mostly disappears, leaving behind a rich green landscape. It's still a wonderful, beautiful place, but I rather prefer the snow myself! Don't go in midwinter if you can help it - there's not much daylight at that latitude!

Does the Universe have an edge? Where does space end? And what's beyond that point? The truth is we don’t know it. Not yet anyway. So let's imagine what a journey to the end of space would be like! Okay, year 2236. Space exploration is flourishing, and astronauts are the most respected professionals in the Solar System. Yet despite all technological advances, no sign of extraterrestrial life has been observed. Or rather, wasn’t… until two years ago.

The GSA — Global Space Agency — registered a repeating signal like no other. It was coming from a galaxy billions of light years away and moving. The decision was made to construct a one-of-a-kind spaceship, exceeding the speed of light, to explore the signal. But to reach its full speed, it has to be piloted manually. And these four individuals are now going on board the ship for the most important mission in history… perhaps never to come back.
