I am Nivedha RM CEO & Founder at Trashcon
Labs Private Limited. Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Someone who believes that
the skills and education one is bestowed with should be put across to the
benefit of the society. With the same ideal and a great amount of passion, i
started ‘Trashcon Waste Management’ at the age of 21. I co-founded an NGO at
the age of 17 and continued it for four years during my graduation. To sum me
up, I believe in ‘creating an impact’. If each of us could do our bit of good,
the world could be a better place to live in. I have been blessed to be
supported by a great team, mentors, and establishments. Trashcon has won
several awards and recognition globally. I envision that there be a day when
there is no waste dumped on the streets. I was involved with a lot of social
work from my childhood. Hence, when the call of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ was
just beginning, I found myself looking closely at the destruction caused by our
waste menace. I wanted to do a campaign to bring home the point of proper waste
management and I realized that I could do so by clearing a piece of land near
my institution. I, along with a large team, did so. ‘’My only motivational
factor was to take a step towards changing this scenario, instead of just
cribbing about the waste piled around us. “ Founder and CEO, Trashcon Labs
Private Limited. She is experienced Co-Founder with a demonstrated history of
working in the non-profit organization management industry. This talk was given
at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by
a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

This episode of Ten Minute History (like a
documentary, only shorter) covers the situation in the Eastern Steppe and the
inter-tribal warfare there which saw the ascendancy of the Mongols. Led by
Genghis Khan they waged a series of wars which over the course of decades saw
the Mongol Empire become the largest contiguous empire in all of human history.
Of course, the empire soon fell into civil war and from that came Khubilai
Khan, whose policies earned him a reputation as a skilled and competent ruler.
Recommended Reading: John Man - The Mongol
Empire: Genghis Khan, His Heirs and the Founding of Modern China. This book is
a fantastic detailed overview of the empire and the Yuan dynasty. Has a great
chapter on the Mongol's legacy.
Morris Rossabi - The Mongols: A Very Short
Introduction. I always recommend these books but that's because they're great.
This one has some issues with its structure but for its price point it's
phenomenal.

Is there more than one universe? In this
visually rich, action-packed talk, Brian Greene shows how the unanswered
questions of physics (starting with a big one: What caused the Big Bang?) have
led to the theory that our own universe is just one of many in the "multiverse."
Talk by Brian Greene.
