A journey from Hong Kong West
Kowloon to Beijing West on train G80, 2,441 km (1,516 miles) in 8h56, showing
stations, train, classes, food & scenery.
For Hong Kong to Beijing train times, fares & tickets see

This was a relaxing day's
train ride right across China at up to 300 km/h (186 mph), which as you can see
isn't too fast to appreciate the views.
The sheer scale of China's high-speed rail infrastructure is
breathtaking, with a growing network and vast new stations. I hope the scale of some of the stations
comes over in the video.

Over the centuries, engineers
and architects have devised ever-new ways to build taller, stronger and more
beautiful creations using game-changing materials like steel girders,
earthquake-proof foundations and glass curtain walls.
But what does the future hold
for construction technology? Will there come a day when noisy construction
crews are replaced by swarms of autonomous nanobots? Will the cracks in
concrete foundations one day miraculously heal themselves, or gas stations be
replaced by electric cars running on self-charging roads?
Watch our video on "10
Futuristic Construction technologies" for most exciting construction
innovations of the near future.

Scientists make unexpected
discoveries every single day: unexplained phenomena, new animal species,
submerged continents... There have long been speculations of a "lost
continent" underwater, hidden somewhere in the ocean. But it turns out,
scientist have found traces of it, even its tip. What could this discovery
mean? And could there be more continents underwater?

If you were to take a coffee cup, and break it in half, then in half
again, and keep carrying on, where would you end up? Could you keep on going
forever? Or would you eventually find a set of indivisible building blocks out
of which everything is made? Jonathan Butterworth explains the Standard Model
theory and how it helps us understand the world we live in.
Lesson by Jon Butterworth, directed by Nick Hilditch.
