This blog has become a sort of personal-cum-public diary. As for its contents, some are meant for me and my friends and relatives; others are for the public. This blog will have only positive, ennobling, elevating, encouraging and uplifting thoughts/ideas/materials. Whoever visits should feel happy and should be able to pick up some good ideas/thoughts/links. In short, "NOTHING NEGATIVE" is my motto.(Grateful thanks to Jon Sullivan and Public-Domain-Photos.com for the background photo)

JEDIDIAH JENKINS QUIT HIS JOB AND DECIDED TO BIKE FROM OREGON TO THE
SOUTHERN TIP OF SOUTH AMERICA. HIS BEST FRIEND, FILMMAKER KENNY LAUBBACHER,
CAME ALONG FOR THE RIDE. This short film follows Jenkins as he shares what he's
learned from his journey so far. “When you’re a kid, everything is astonishing.
Everything is new, and so your brain is awake and turned on ... Once your brain
establishes a routine, it stops ... the alertness goes away,” he says. By
choosing adventure Jenkins is able to reactivate his brain and turn his
“hundred years on this planet into a thousand.

Shortly after the construction of the Gotthard tunnel, Switzerland
pulled off another pioneering achievement: the construction of the Thusis - St.
Moritz railway line between 1899 and 1903. This opened the Upper Engadine to
tourists. The Rhaetian Railway still passes over the same bridges and through
the same loop tunnels. A still greater challenge was the subsequent
construction of the Bernina Railway. No other railway in the world overcomes
such steep gradients and winds through such steep curves without the help of a
cogwheel.

The oscillation of neutrinos from one variety to another has long been
suspected, but was confirmed only about 15 years ago. In order for these oscillations to occur,
neutrinos must have a mass, no matter how slight. Since neutrinos have long been thought to be
massless, in a very real way, this phenomena is a clear signal of physics beyond
the known. In this video, Fermilab's DR
DON LINCOLN explains how we know it occurs and hints at the rich experimental
program at several international laboratories designed to understand this
complex mystery.

How old is the universe, and how did it begin? Throughout history,
countless myths and scientific theories have tried to explain the universe's
origins. The most widely accepted explanation is the big bang theory. Learn
about the explosion that started it all and how the universe grew from the size
of an atom to encompass everything in existence today.
