Karnataka's biggest success story in recent years has been the growth of knowledge-based industries : Information Technology (IT) and Biotechnology. It accounts for approximately 37% of India's IT and IT-enabled Services (worth Rs.50,000 crore). Around 40% of the country's biotech firms are located in Karnataka.
